Pilgrimage to the Shrines of Canada

Day 1: Buffalo / Midland
Upon arrival in Buffalo we will be met by our local guide and board our motorcoach for the drive to the Niagara Falls. Upon arrival in Niagara we will visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and the St. Therese Shrine. This Monastery and Shrine are located on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, with a breath taking view of the Falls. After mass we will go on a mini-cruise aboard the Maid of the Mist, the oldest attraction in North America which will take us right to the base of the Falls. Continue to Midland, the only Catholic pilgrimage shrine in Ontario.

Day 2: Midland / 1000 Islands
After breakfast we will celebrate mass in Midland. Then depart by coach for Kingston via Toronto. This afternoon we will arrive in the region of 1000 Islands which the native people refer to as the "Garden of the Great Spirit". Others will tell you its friendly atmosphere, fresh outdoors and laid-back pace make the 1000 Islands a place that inspires the spirit and renews the soul.

Day 3: 1000 Isalnds / Ottawa
This morning we will take a cruise on the 1000 Islands River with major attractions including Boldt Castle, Zavicon Island, Millionaires. Then proceed to Ottawa, the capital of Canada, where we will see Rideau Canal, the National Arts Centre, Christ-Church Cathedral, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Parliament Hill, the Canadian Supreme Court, City Hall and 24 Sussex - the Prime Minister’s residence.

Day 4: Ottawa / Montreal
After breakfast depart for Montreal, the second largest city in Canada. Two thirds of the population are French, making it the largest French-speaking city outside of Paris. Upon arrival visit Saint Joseph’s Oratory. This impressive church, located at the top of Mount Royal, is known as "the Basilica". Next discover Old Montreal, Jacques-Cartier Place, Notre-Dame Basilica, Mount-Royal, and the Olympic Park of the 1976 games.

Day 5: Montréal / Trois-Rivières / Quebec
This morning we will depart Montreal for Trois-Rivières. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided tour of Notre Dame du Cap Shrine. This shrine is the third most frequented pilgrimage site in Québec and is dedicated to Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire. The first official pilgrimage took place here in 1883 and the modern-style basilica is renowned for its stained-glass windows. We will also visit the Small Shrine (built in 1714) and the Musée des Ursulines. In 1697, the Ursuline Order of nuns became the first female religious congregation to establish in Trois-Rivières and its presence has greatly influenced the city's history. Their convent buildings include a chapel, a private school (elementary and secondary levels) and the sisters' residence. The museum presents a thematic exhibit each year consisting of objects from its private collection. Continue to Quebec City.

Day 6: Québec
This morning, drive to Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré and visit St. Anne Basilica, the oldest pilgrimage site of North America (1658). Each year, more than a million and a half pilgrims and visitors come to the Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré for a time of peace, calm, and prayer. Proceed to the Parc de la Chute Montmorency. Located east of Quebec, in a wonderful natural setting, the Parc de la Chute Montmorency is a spectacular lookout point over the St.-Lawrence River and is known for its impressive waterfalls. In the afternoon visit Old Quebec for a guided city tour where we will discover the Place d’Armes, Catholic and Protestants cathedrals, the City Hall, the Parliament, the Citadelle, the terrasse Dufferin, the Château Frontenac, and the Royal Place.

Day 7: Quebec / Montréal Airport
Today marks the end of our pilgrimage as we depart for Montreal airport for our return flight home.
