Pilgrimage to Ireland

Day 1 - USA / Dublin
Your pilgrimage begins as you depart the United States on your scheduled flight to Ireland.

Day 2 - Dublin
Upon arrival at Dublin Airport, meet your local guide who will escort you for the duration of your stay in Ireland. Transfer to hotel. Remainder of the day FREE. Overnight in Dublin.

Day 3 - Dublin
Following breakfast, take a city tour of Dublin including visits to Trinity College to see the famous Book of Kells and St. Patrick's Cathedral, Ireland's largest church. Overnight in Dublin.

Day 4 - Dublin/ Sligo
Following breakfast, depart Dublin for Sligo, also known as Yeats County for its connection with the famous Irish poet. En route travel via the Boyne Valley, probably the best introduction to Ireland's history from Stone Age to present. See Newgrange, the pre-historical burial site of the High Kings of Ireland. Visit Slane, where St. Patrick lit Easter Fires to proclaim the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. Continue to Mellifont Abbey and Monasterboice, famous for their sculptured Celtic crosses and round towers. Overnight in Sligo.

Day 5 - Sligo
Begin your day with a tour of Donegal, one of Ireland's most attractive counties, with visits to the fishing village of Killybegs and the folk village of Glencolumbkille (named after St. Columba with which it has many connections). See Glenveagh National Park, famous for its castle grounds and herd of red deer. Return to Sligo via Lough Derg, a renowned pilgrimage place, where St. Patrick had the vision of purgatory, believed to have influenced Dante. Return to hotel in Sligo. Overnight.

Day 6 - Sligo / Galway
Depart Sligo for Galway, "the City of the Tribes". En route visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock, where in 1879 fifteen people saw a vision of Our Lady with St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist. After MASS, continue into Galway, your home for the next two nights.

Day 7 - Galway
Following breakfast, celebrate MASS at the Galway Cathedral dedicated to Our Lady and St. Nicholas. Next, travel to Connemara, famous for its rugged wilderness scenery. Visit Kylemore Abbey, the only remaining home of the Benedictine nuns in Ireland, where you will enjoy tea and scones. Return to your hotel in Galway. Overnight.

Day 8 - Galway / Killarney
Depart Galway for Killarney. Travel via the lunar landscape of the Burren and the magnificent cliffs of Moher. Take a ferry from Killimer to Tarbert across the River Shannon before arriving in Killarney. Check into hotel. Overnight.

Day 9 - Killarney
Drive the spectacular Ring of Kerry, the most popular of all the tourist routes in Ireland. Visit Muckross House and Abbey before returning to your hotel in Killarney for the night.

Day 10 - Killarney / Dublin
Depart Killarney this morning for Dublin. En roue visit the Rock of Cashel with its magnificent medieval buildings. It was here that St. Patrick converted King Aengus in 432 AD making him the Ireland's first Christian ruler. Check into your Dublin hotel for the night.

Day 11 - Dublin / USA
Today your Irish Pilgrimage comes to an end. Following breakfast, your guide shall transfer you to Dublin Airport for your return to the United States. As you board your homebound flight you will no doubt be filled with memories of a truly unforgettable journey.
